A puppy contract with a health guarantee is a standard practice between breeders and buyers. In addition to the financial arrangement, it assures that the puppy you are buying is currently healthy; free of both serious infectious disease and congenital and/or genetic defects. This requires that the buyer take the puppy to their own veterinarian to be examined within a specified amount of time (72 hours). This is for the protection of both the buyer and the breeder.

 

Bottom line, reputable breeders should be health testing their dogs, and can speak intelligently about the risks associated with the breed. 

 

All dogs will be registered on an AKC Limited Registration. Limited Registration means the dog may not be used to breed. Full AKC papers will be given when proof of neutering or spaying is provided to Seller by the age of 12 months old, but no earlier than 9 months.
